Simba
Patagonian sea lionOtaria byronia

The only male sea lion from Patagonia at Seaquarium, Simba lives surrounded by his harem of females.
He weighs almost 300 kg and, despite his corpulence, is the gentlest and the cuddliest in the group, except during the mating season! Simba is the pride and joy of his trainers, and is the visitors’ favourite at Seaquarium.
This species is also called the Patagonian sea lion or the South American sea lion as the males have a mane of thick hair around the neck.
Simba arrived at Seaquarium on 10 August 2001.

Scientific name: Otaria flavescens
