Spotted dogfishScyliorhinus stellaris

The spotted dogfish can be found throughout Mediterranean as well as in the Atlantic, the English Channel and the North Sea, where it hides during the day on the sandy bottoms.
Active at night, it eats crabs, shrimps, octopus, squid and fish.
This shark is oviparous and lays 2 eggs at a time, well protected by tough egg capsules known as the “mermaids’ purses”.
